Joe Roth - Head Coach
This is Coach Roth's third year as head coach after being an assistant coach for two seasons. Coach Roth is also an assistant for the boys track and field team working with the distance runners. Coach Roth graduated from Palatine high school in 2003. While at Palatine, Coach Roth participated in both Cross Country and Track and Field. He then went on to attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics as well as minors in Secondary Education and Business. Coach Roth helped out with the Boys' track and field team while student teaching at Champaign Centennial high school. Coach Roth teaches Geometry, Algebra 2, and Intermediate Algebra 2. Coach Roth finished the 2008 Milwaukee marathon and the 2009 Chicago marathon.
Bill Etnyre - Assistant Coach
Coach Etnyre is starting his sixth year with the girl's cross-country program. He currently teaches Physical Education at Butterfield Elementary School in Libertyville, and is also an assistant coach for the girls track program at LHS. Coach Etnyre earned his bachelor's degree in Physical Education at Carthage College in Kenosha, WI. At Carthage he was a four-year member of the Redmen track and field program where he competed as a sprinter, and was an all-conference decathlete. He is now addicted to running and trains for races from 5K to 100 miles.
Mary Kate Polzin - Assistant Coach
This is Mary Kate's third year with the girls cross country program. She competed at the high school varsity level in both cross country and track and field for four years at St. Francis High School in Wheaton, Illinois. She also ran competitively at Illinois Wesleyan University, where she earned a B.A. in English. Mary Kate holds IWU 4X8 relay record with three teammates and was a part of the 2008 and 2009 teams that won consecutive conference titles and the 2008 national championship team. She was also a finisher in the 2007 Chicago Marathon. When not on the track, Mary Kate teaches American literature and Creative Writing at Libertyville.
