TEAM NEWS 2011

10/10: The season came to an end Monday afternoon as Camilla Ou and Darinka Sutic competed at the Buffalo Grove Sectional at Buffalo Grove Golf Course.  Camilla shot an 86 while Darinka turned in a 95.  With the cut for moving downstate set at 79, the season comes to a close.  Camilla's 86 was the tenth best score turned in out of the 40 individual qualifiers not connected to full teams.  Congratulations to both girls on a great season.

10/5: One shot. The varsity Wildcats' season came to an end at the Lake Forest Regional at Lake Bluff Golf Club on Wednesday. The Wildcats shot a 351, their best 18 hole score in years. With three sectional berths on the line, our 351 lagged behind Highland Park and Buffalo Grove, and it wound up tying Stevenson. Unfortunately, the tiebreaker went to the fifth score and Stevenson claimed the third and final sectional berth. On the bright side two Wildcats will move on individually to sectionals: Camilla Ou shot a 75 and took third place. Darinka Sutic shot an 87 and took 14th. Paige Webb shot a 90 but lost a one-hole playoff for the tenth and final sectional bid. Also carding a score today was Lauren Dohse with a 99.
9/30: So close. On Friday the Libertyville High School Girls Golf Team finished second in the Conference Championships, just one stroke behind Stevenson. The second place regular season finish coupled with this second place finish in the conference tournament cements the Cats at second in conference overall. Stevenson shot a 366 with the Cats one shot behind at 367. Lake Forest (373) took third. Camilla Ou and Darinka Sutic each shot 87. Lauren Dohse had a 96 and the Cats used Emilie Teitz's 97 as its fourth score. On the JV side, the Cats lagged behind in 3rd with a 448, but congratulations to sophomore Tressa Freburg on winning the JV individual championship by shooting a 96!
9/27: RAIN. On Tuesday the varsity and junior varsity Wildcats traveled to Deerpath GC to participate in the North Suburban Conference Championship. The course was soaked and the rain made some holes unplayable, so play was suspended. Players finished between four and seven holes and those scores will count. Play will be resumed Friday morning at 8am from the tee box of the next hole yet to be scored. In early scoring Paige Webb started strong at 2 over after six holes. Camilla Ou was 4 over after six.
9/24: On Saturday the varsity Wildcats traveled to Freeport and played in the Lady Pretz Invitational, and there they placed fourth overall out of fifteen schools. The Cats shot a 367, behind Crystal Lake Central, Rockford Boyland and Woodstock Marian, but finished one shot ahead of Hononegah. Camilla Ou took fifth place overall with her round of 84. Darinka Sutic had a 91. Lauren Dohse shot a 95 and Izzy Alesna chipped in with a 97. Individual accomplishments included Lauren Dohse winning the Longest Putt Made on # 6 with a 25 footer. Anna King won the Long Drive on #10. Izzy Alesna won closest to the pin on #3. Also Saturday, the JV Wildcats took 3rd at the Mundelein JV Two-Girl Scramble Invitational. Emma Hoskins and Jessica Lovinger combined for an 89, as did the team of Marisa Gurovski and Jessica Lovinger. Hannah Hughes and Kathleen Morris combined for a 91.
9/21: On Wednesday the Wildcats dropped a match for the second time this season, this time to Mundelein at Countryside. The Cats lost 179-183. Camilla Ou paced the Cats with a 41, bu thte next scores sagged behind. Darinka Sutic and Anna King had 47s. Emilie Teitz had a 48. The JV Cats were victorious and ran their undefeated record to 11-0.
9/20: On Tuesday a great day was had at Willow Glen for the Faculty/Student Golf Scramble. 42 boys and girls golf team members paired up with 22 staff members. Congratulations go out to the winning team of Mr. Wirtanen, Ms. Kellum, Camilla Ou, and Jason Eick, who collectively shot five under par! Also pulling in prizes were two girls golfers: Paige Webb won ladies' long drive and Emilie Teitz won ladies' long putt.
9/16: On Friday the JV Cats defeated Grant High School 156-170 in a six hole match. JV is 10-0! Freshman Jessica Lovinger led the Cats with a 36! Senior Donya Buglio and sophomore Erin Neil contributed 39s. Freshman Madison Whitney rounded out the scores with a 42.
9/14: On Wednesday the Wildcats turned in their best score in more than four years and beat Lake Forest 165-177. Camilla Ou led the Cats with a 39. Darinka Sutic birdied two holes and shot a 41. Paige Webb shot her best nine hole round of the year with a 42. Emilie Teitz had her best nine hole round of the year with a 43. The Cats move to 8-1 (4-1 NSC) on the season. The junior varsity Cats remained perfect! They defeated Lake Forest in a squeaker, 194-197. Anna King was the JV Cats medalist with a 42. Great job, Anna and the undefeated JV Wildcats!
9/12: On Monday the Wildcats suffered their first setback of the season, losing to Stevenson 168-182. Camilla Ou turned in an impressive 39 at Cranes Landing and Paige Webb shot a solid 45. The other scores carded by the Cats were a 48 from Darinka Sutic and a 50 from Emilie Teitz. The varsity Cats moved to 7-1 overall, 3-1 NSC. The JV Cats, however, remained perfect at 8-0, 4-0 with a 160-177 (seven holes) win over Stevenson. The JV medalist was Emma Hoskins with 38 / 7 holes. Great job, Emma!
9/10: The varsity Wildcats took to the road at the Waukegan Invite on Saturday and for the first time really failed to meet their own expectations. The Cats finished 8th out of 12 schools by shooting a 384. Darinka Sutic turned in a 88 and Emilie Teitz shot her best round of the season with a 95. The Cats were lacking after that, though, and had to keep Camilla Ou's 95 and Paige Webb's 106. They will look to improve at the next 18 hole round, two weeks from today in Freeport.
9/9: On Friday the Wildcats continued their win streak by defeating Deerfield 172-192. Running their record to 7-0 on the season, the Cats were led by Camilla Ou and her 38. Lauren Dohse and Paige Webb each chipped in with 44 while Darinka Sutic turned in a 46. The junior varsity also ran their perfect record to 7-0 with a 206-217 win. Emma Hoskins was the jv medalist with a 47, her first round under 50. Great job, Emma and good work, Wildcats!
9/7: On Wednesday the Wildcats hosted Lake Zurich at Willow Glen GC. The varsity Cats were victorious by the score of 178-222. Camilla Ou was the medalist with a 40. Darinka Sutic was close behind with a 42. Lauren Dohse and Emilie Teitz rounded out the scores each with a 48. The Cats are now 6-0, 3-0 NSC on the season. The junior varsity also won 216-228. Izzy Alesna was the jv medalist with a 45. The JV Cats are also 6-0, 3-0 NSC.
9/6: On Tuesday the Wildcats took the short road trip to Vernon Hills Golf Course and defeated Vernon Hills 182 - 196. The varsity Cats are 5-0. Junior Lauren Dohse was the Cats' medalist for the first time, shooting a 42, including two birdies. Darinka Sutic shot a 45, Camilla Ou a 47, and Emilie Teitz a 48. The junior varsity was also successful, beating Vernon Hills 213 - DNF. Hannah Hughes was the JV medalist with a 50 and she will make her varsity debut tomorrow at Willow Glen when the Cats take on Lake Forst.
9/2: On Friday the Wildcats raced out to their best score of the season thus far, defeating Carmel 167-190 at Willow Glen. Camilla Ou led the Wildcats with a 38, including back to back birdies. Darinka Sutic shot her personal best of 39. Lauren Dohse and newcomer Tressa Freburg rounded out the Cats' scores with 45s. The JV Wildcats also won their match, shooting an impressive 193. Emilie Teitz led the Cats with a 42, her best round of the season. All in all, nine Cats broke 50 on the day: Camilla Ou (38), Darinka Sutic (39), Emilie Teitz (42), Lauren Dohse (45), Tressa Freburg (45), Izzy Alesna (46), Paige Webb (47), Anna King (47), and Kathleen Morris (49)!
8/30: On Tuesday the Wildcats turned in what was their best score of the season, defeating Warren 168-198. Camilla Ou and Darinka Sutic paced the Cats, each netting a 41. Right behind were Lauren Dohse and Paige Webb, each scoring a 43. Dohse's score marks her personal best. The Wildcats improved to 3-0, 1-0 NSC on the season. The JV Cats were also victorious, narrowly, 213-215. Izzy Alesna was the JV medalist for the second time in two days, this time with a 46. The JV Cats are 3-0, 1-0 NSC.
8/29: On Monday the Wildcats took to the road again and this time defeated Hoffman Estates 177 - 256 at Highland Woods Golf Course. Camilla Ou was the medalist, shooting an impressive 38. Paige Webb's strong return continued with a 43. Darinka Sutic and Lauren Dohse chipped in with 48 each. The varsity Cats are 2-0. The junior varsity also won on Monday, 168-208 (seven holes). Izzy Alesna turned in the best round for the JV Cats (45), who are also now 2-0.
8/27: The varsity Wildcats took to the road for the weekend in Normal, Illinois, on the Illinois State University Campus, at the U-High Invite. The Cats turned in a 363, earning them 6th place out of 20 schools. Camilla Ou and Darinka Sutic paced the Cats with a pair of 87s. In their varsity debuts this season, Anna King had a 94 and Paige Webb earned a 95.
8/25: The Wildcats' first dual match of the season resulted in a pair of victories on Wednesday. The varsity defeated Elk Grove at Fox Run (par 35) 180-220. Camilla Ou was the medalist with a 40. Her playing partner Darinka Sutic followed closely with a 41. Also carding scores were Emilie Teitz (49) and Lauren Doshe (50). The junior varsity defeated Elk Grove 179-239 at Salt Creek (par 31). Anna King and Paige Webb each had 44. Karina Bjorklund had a 45 while Hannah Hughes finished out the Wildcat scoring with a 46. Great job, Cats!
8/22: The varsity Wildcats took 6th place (out of 12 teams) at the Lake County Invite held at Bonnie Dundee in Carpentersville. Camilla Ou shot a 79, good for an 8th place medal out of 79 golfers. Also pacing the Cats this time out were also Darinka Sutic (88), Lauren Dohse (95), and Emilie Teitz (101). Highland Park, Barrington, and Stevenson topped the list of teams, while the Cats trailed Lake Forest and Carmel by just seven shots.
8/16: The Wildcats' season kicked off at the Barrington Invite Tuesday at Bonnie Dundee Golf Course in Carpentersville. The Wildcats came in with an impressive 360 to finish 8th out of 16 highly competitive teams. Camilla Ou shot her personal best round of 74. Darinka Sutic turned in an 87. Lauren Dohse broke 100 with a 99 and Emilie Teitz's 100 rounded out the Cats' scores.
812: Tryouts Day #3 - 9 holes at Willow Glen. Thanks to everyone who tried out for the team!
8/11: Tryouts Day #2 - 18 or 9 holes at Willow Glen
8/10: Tryouts at the Sports Complex - 2PM. Have all completed and signed forms turned into the AD's office before arriving on time. Bring your own clubs.
