The LHS Boys Cross Country team recently raised money and helped clean up a local road. On September 11, the team presented a $1,000 check to the Fisher House Foundation, an organization that provides homes for family members of military veterans who are hospitalized due to unexpected illness, disease or injury. The team raised this money by selling discount cards for local Libertyville businesses with the help of NFP Sports fundraising. Top fundraisers were Nick Korhumel, Easton Huch and Nick Young.
Last month, the team presented a $1,000 check to Jeremy Foster of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Metropolitan Chicago at practice. The team -- coached by Mark Buesing, Matt Condron and Caitlin Bye -- sold discount cards for local Libertyville businesses. Following a team tradition, the members elected to give half of their proceeds to charity; Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Chicago helps children reach their potential through professionally supported one-to-one mentoring relationships.
In addition, the team recently cleaned up a stretch of Highway 176/Park Avenue between Milwaukee and Fourth Avenue that it adopted a few years ago through Libertyville’s Adopt-a-Highway program. Pictures of the check donations and highway cleanup can be viewed below.
