Current Wildcats

Welcome to the web site for current Wildcats. This site will help you navigate the transition from one year to the next as you choose courses, register and enroll for the upcoming school year. Look for updated information this winter as we prepare for the 2012-2013 school year. In the meantime, please refer to the timeline of course selection and registration below. If you need further assistance please call your counselor who will be happy to assist you.

This timeline shows the general sequence and timing of events and is subject to adjust year to year.

December 2011
  • Teachers begin the process of recommending students for courses for the coming year.

January 2012
  • Teachers finalize recommendations for course selection. Course recommendations for current students are not mailed home. Students and their parents are encouraged to review the online curriculum guide for general sequence and contact their teacher if they have questions.
  • Start of 2nd semester.
  • The new curriculum guide is available online & registration materials will be distributed to current students during the first week of the 2nd semester.
  • LST ‘s host Class Meetings to discuss importance and process of course selection. Families are encouraged to talk about course selection at home.
  • After the Class Meetings, counselors begin to meet with students for initial course selection for the next school year and to and review progress toward graduation requirements.

February 2012
  • Here is the LHS online curriculum guide for 2012-2013.
  • Counselors continue to meet with current students to select courses and review progress toward graduation requirements.
  • Initial course selection ends February 24th.

March 2012
  • Course selection data is compiled and prepared for the administration.
  • LHS and D128 administration review course selection data and make sectioning and staffing decisions. With Board approval the LHS administration begins to build the Master Schedule based on the initial course selection data.

April 2012
  • Counselors meet with students whose courses were cancelled due to lack of enrollment and help them choose alternative courses. Course selection decisions are now limited to what is available.
  • Begin limited discretionary schedule changes. Course selection decisions are limited to what is available.
  • Continue to build the Master Schedule. A computer is used to run simulations to find the most effective schedule that will maximize the highest percentage of students being placed into the courses they selected.

May 2012
  • Finalize Master Schedule in early May.
  • Counselors meet with students to resolve schedule conflicts/irresolvables. Students who have a large number of singleton or doubleton courses (courses that have only one or two sections) are at the greatest risk for having schedule conflicts.
  • Course selection decisions are limited to what is available.

June 2012
  • Counselors finish schedule conflicts/ irresolvables and begin to balance sections.
  • Students and parents may verify cumulative course selection decicions for the 2012-2013 school year via PowerSchool.
  • After graduation, LHS begins summer hours --- M-Th 7:30-4:00. School is closed Fridays.
  • A counselor is on duty T & Th in June to process limited discretionary schedule changes and register new students. Course selection decisions are limited to what is available. Schedule changes get more difficult to do.
  • First Summer Mailing goes home June 14 (principal’s letter, online registration instructions including how to request a senior parking sticker, instructions to pay basic and outstanding fees)
  • Begin the final registration process for the upcoming year. There are two steps for current Wildcats to complete registration: 1) Verify your child's demographic data and complete other pertinent information via infosnap 2) Pay Basic Fees and other financical obligations

  • SENIOR PARKING Seniors must complete both registration steps (see above) and have a zero balance before a parking sticker is issued! The parking sticker application is a part of infosnap. The first applications come in fast! The rest are put on a non-guaranteed WAITLIST...

July 2012
  • LHS continues summer hours --- M-Th 7:30-4:00. School is closed Fridays.
  • A counselor is on duty T W Th in July to process limited discretionary schedule changes and register new students. Course selection decisions are limited to what is available.
  • Continue to balance sections.
  • SENIOR PARKING Seniors must complete both registration steps (see above) and have a zero balance before they can receive a parking sticker! The first 273 applications come in fast! The rest are put on a non-guaranteed WAITLIST...

    (In September, LHS administration will monitor student parking patterns and the availability of spaces. If spaces are available, we will release a limited number of stickers to students off the wait list. We will continue to monitor parking patterns and release stickers as necessary throughout the first several weeks of school.)

  • Finalize registration process during the final week of July (REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS July 26). Begin late fees for registration process.

August 2012
  • Final mailing is sent home to those families who have completed the two step registration process. (This mailing includes schedules, ID cards, locker and bus information etc…)
  • All counselors are on duty T W & Th the week prior to the beginning of school to process last minute discretionary schedule changes and register new students. Limited discretionary schedule changes will not be considered after Thursday August 16
  • End summer hours. Offices open M-F with regular hours of operation.
  • Fall sports begin.
  • School opens August 22!
