Community High School District 128 Superintendent Prentiss Lea is proud to announce that the District’s ACT scores have risen for the 5th consecutive year. The graduating Class of 2010, comprised of 761 students, earned an average composite score of 25.0. For the past five years, the district has seen a steady increase from 24.1 to 25.0. The state average composite ACT score was 20.7. The test is scored nationally on a range from 1 to 36.

Both District 128 schools, Libertyville High School and Vernon Hills High School, continue to show significant improvement in student achievement on this important measure of academic success. Libertyville High School’s composite score climbed to 25.3, the highest in its history. Vernon Hills High School’s average composite score was 24.7. Class of 2009 composite scores for LHS and VHHS were 24.9 and 24.7 respectively.
“We are extremely proud of our continued success on this assessment,” said Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction Deborah Larson. “We believe that the curriculum initiatives that we have undertaken have a positive impact on student achievement. Additionally, our teachers continue to use best practices in instruction to challenge students with rigorous learning opportunities.”
