September
- Be aware of your graduation requirements. If you have any doubts about your graduation status, see your counselor. We will send you a copy of your Academic History. You will need this when you fill out your applications.
- Attend the Senior College Application Workshop.
- Continue taking solid college prep courses. You should take at least four core courses (English, social studies, math, science, or international language) each semester of senior year.

- Meet with your counselor, especially if you need a counselor letter of recommendation.
- Review college applications with your counselor and the College Counselor.
- Request teacher recommendation(s) if required.
- Review your LHS Post-High School Planning Guide.
- Get a pass from the CRC to meet with college representatives - they are your advocate to the college of your choice.
- Register for the ACT, SAT, and/or Subject Tests if you plan to take or retake. See your LST or the CRC for information.
- Work on your college essay.
- Investigate scholarships. Check the "Scholarship List" on Naviance.

November/ December
- Keep an eye on all deadlines! Request your transcript and letters of recommendation at least two weeks before the deadline.
- Check out all financial aid information. Look at our Student Services website and Naviance for financial aid.
- Attend the Financial Aid Workshop I. This program will prepare you for the Financial Aid Workshop II in January. College financial aid professionals will present and get you started on the road to paying for college.
- Register for your pin # so that you can complete your online FAFSA with an electronic signature (get two! One for the student and one for a parent.)
- Pick-up the FAFSA on the Web Worksheet in the CRC. Complete it now so when you attend the Financial Aid Workshop in January you will know what is going on! Also, this will help you complete the FAFSA online! NOTE: The FAFSA cannot be offically completed until January, but it is a good idea to prepare now.
- Complete all college applications and bring them in to your counselor by December 1st.
- Have you completed any scholarship applications yet?
- Apply for housing as soon as possible.
January
- Parents should attend Financial Aid II: FAFSA Completion Workshop at the high school. This program will focus on the completion of the FAFSA.
- Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), which is required for anyone applying for financial aid.
- Write thank you notes to any faculty members who wrote letters of recommendation for you.
- Continue to apply for scholarships.
March
- Register for AP exams if applicable.
- Visit or revisit colleges if undecided.
- Investigate housing options at the schools you are accepted to. You may deposit for housing at multiple schools, but read the fine print! You may not get a refund if you decide not to attend a college.
April
- Make your college choice (before the May 1st Universal Deadline) and send in a deposit. Do not "double deposit." Don't forget housing!
- Write to you other colleges to inform them that you will not be attending.
- Complete the Graduation Survey on Naviance. This survey provides the statistical data that we use for the program.
May
- Take AP exams
- Request that your final transcript be sent to the college of your choice.
June
- Congratulations! You did it! Enjoy the years ahead -- and come back to visit us now and then -- we'll miss you!
