Test Prep

Test Prep options for LHS students:

1.) The LHS ACT Prep Class is offered to LHS Juniors and is geared to prepare them for the April ACT test dates. Registration materials will be mailed home in December and will also be available in the LSTs and the CRC after winter break. The program cost is $180 Generally, about 45% of the Junior Class takes this class. The course features a pre-test, 12 hours of instruction, and a post-test. Students will receive a textbook and a detailed score report for each practice test. Students will have the option of signing-up for either an after school class or an evening class. Classes will be taught by LHS faculty or other approved instructors. If you do not receive information in the mail, pick-up a registration packet in the room 117. Register promptly as space may be limited.

Convience feature! We will once again offer online registration for this class. Once registration opens, please go to the Parents tab on the left and choose Webstore. Choose either the LHS EVENING or AFTER SCHOOL test prep option. Call Hillary Miller at 847-327-7015 if you have any questions. After January 6th, online registration will be CLOSED.

2.) Test Prep from Family Connections. An online ACT and SAT test prep program is offered through your Family Connection account from Naviance. This is a great way to brush up on your testing skills for free and on your own time! There are short subject tests, subject tutorials, and full-length tests. All juniors should have an active Family Connection account. See the CRC homepage for more information about how to gain access -- or if you're having trouble, stop by the CRC -- we're here to help you!

3) Outside Test Prep Services. There are many options in the Chicagoland area for test prep (it is a booming business!!). Though it is not our priority to keep up with all of these, we do have a short list. Typically, Princeton Review and Kaplan are major players but they can be very expensive, and high cost does not necessarily make a better program. There are also private tutors who provide one-on-one experience. We have a list of several types of providers available in the CRC. Just ask! We do not endorse any of these services, but we keep the list for your convenience and information.

Three Steps on how to choose a test prep course that will meet your needs:

1. Think convenience. Sports/activities/work conflict. What is the best season to tackle a test prep course?

2. Think about your game plan. Which tests are you going to take? How many times do you want to take the ACT? Which scores are you going to send?

3. Think cost.

Test Prep Confusion

Libertyville High School will be providing several opportunities for students to brush up on their testing skills. LHS will again offer its ACT Prep Course for Juniors only.

  • The LHS ACT Prep course will prepare students for the April test dates, including the PSAE/ACT which all Juniors must take.
  • Registration materials for the LHS ACT prep will be mailed in December.
  • Evening (two per week) and After School (three per week) classes will be offered. Students need to choose carefully as they consider taking one of these classes while working or doing an extra-curricular activity (track, softball, baseball, and some fine art performances) always seem to be difficult to schedule around.
