Choir: July 21-24, 1:00-4:30 pm Gr. 6-9

Important Information

Students entering grades 5-9, 6-9, or 6-12, in the fall of 2025 (depending on the camp) are eligible to attend
Instrumental sessions are intended for students with prior playing experience (2 years for Marching & Jazz Bands, 1 year for Concert Band/Orchestra); Choir and Musical Theatre Camp are open to all interested singers regardless of prior experience
Camps will be taught by LHS and sender school faculty, with high school students as counselors
Camps will take place at LHS in the Music Wing and outdoors as weather permits
Tuition is $80 per camp session (morning or afternoon).
All camps will include a T-shirt unique to the LHS 2025 summer music camps; this T-shirt will be the uniform for the Marching Band Camp performance in the Vernon Hills 4th of July Parade
Registration will begin on the LHS Web Store in late March and will remain open until June 1st or the camp sessions are full

Jazz Band Camp

Jazz Band Camp will run from 1:00pm-4:00pm, June 16-18th, and will feature rehearsals, sectionals, and a variety of fun activities! Jazz Band Camp is for students entering 6th through 9th grades in the fall of 2025, who have at least 2 years of experience on a traditional jazz instrument (saxophone, trumpet, trombone, piano, guitar, bass, drumset, vibraphone).

Students will need to supply their own instrument and accessories (mallets/sticks for percussion); storage for large instruments and a limited number of full-sized loaner instruments are available upon request. The camp is led by LHS Jazz Band Director Matt Karnstedt.

Orchestra Camp

Orchestra Camp will run from 1:00-4:30pm, June 9th-12th, and will feature rehearsals, sectionals, and a variety of fun activities! Orchestra Camp is for students entering 5th through 9th grades in the fall of 2025 with at least one year of playing experience on traditional orchestral instruments (violin, viola, cello, bass).

Students will need to supply their own instrument; storage for large instruments, and a limited number of full-sized loaner instruments, are available upon request. The camp is led by LHS Orchestra Teacher Jeremy Marino and Palatine High School Orchestra Teacher Dung Pham.

Musical Theatre Camp

Musical Theatre Camp will run from 1:00-4:30pm, June 9th-12th, and will feature opportunities to sing, dance, act, develop audition skills and participate in a variety of fun activities! Students entering 6th through 12th grades in the fall of 2025 are invited to register. No previous experience is necessary, and students will be split into middle school and high school groups based on grade level.

A variety of Musical Theatre pieces will be studied including selections from the LHS Fall 2025 Musical. LHS students attending Musical Theatre Camp will automatically secure a spot at Callbacks for the LHS Fall 2025 Musical Auditions.

Students will need to wear gym shoes and come dressed for physical activity. The camp is led by LHS Theatre Teacher/Musical Director, Christopher Thomas, LHS Dance Teacher/Musical Choreographer, Eryn Brown, and Highland Middle School Choir Teacher/Vocal Director, Erika Brown-Thomas.

Marching Band Camp

Marching Band Camp will run from 1:00-4:30pm June 30-July 2nd, and will close with a performance at the Vernon Hills 4th of July Parade on the morning of Thursday, July 4th (exact event time TBD based on parade lineup number). The camp will feature rehearsals, sectionals, and a variety of fun activities! Marching Band Camp is for students entering 6th through 9th grades in the fall of 2025 who have played a traditional band instrument (woodwinds/brass/percussion) for at least 2 years; incoming freshmen should also consider signing up for Marching Wildcats (look for an email from Mr. Gohr) and participating in the Marching Wildcats (HS) Band Camp July 28-August 1.

Students will need to supply their own instrument and accessories (mallets/sticks for percussion); some marching instruments are available upon request, as is storage for large instruments. Percussionists participating in the drumline will be placed onto a school-supplied instrument as determined by the drumline instructors. The camp is led by LHS Director of Bands Adam Gohr and Wildcat Drumline Instructor Savannah Hendricks

Concert Band Camp

Concert Band Camp will run from 1:00-4:30pm, June 23rd-26th, and will feature rehearsals, sectionals, and a variety of fun activities! Concert Band Camp is for students entering 5th through 9th grades in the fall of 2025 who have played traditional band instruments (woodwinds/brass/percussion) for at least one year.
